What I'm doing now.
Over the past 5 and a half years I've worked as a Research Assistant with the University of Queensland (UQ) on a variety of projects. I started these positions after doing a summer research scholarship with the Florence Project at UQ. This project was aiming to help "make the day go better" for people with Dementia. My original scholarship project was a system called Daycal (day calendar). DayCal was meant for a family friend who had dementia. It was intended to be a Internet-connected system displaying upcoming events for the day. It never progressed beyond a prototype.
When my great uncle got Parkinson's disease I made him a Music Box. The Music Box played either music or read poetry (depending on a toggle switch). Unfortunately I never got to give it to him.
